流光飞逝,Hopkins CSSA 2010-2011 Committee 已在不知不觉中为咱们霍普金斯华人大家庭服务了一年。我们衷心地感谢大家对我们过往一年的各项活动的大力支持!

在本月,Hopkins CSSA 将进行换届选举,推选出新一任的学联会主席,并组建新的 Committee;详情请参照所附的选举细则。从即日起,选举将进入提名阶段。请大家根据细则中的说明,向我们推举您身边的有才有志之士!提名的最终结果将于下周五(5月20日)公布。

Guideline for Election of Hopkins CSSA President 2011

I. Requirement for the 2011 Hopkins CSSA President Candidate

1. Full Time Registered at Hopkins: the 2011 Hopkins CSSA President Candidate must be a current full-time registered graduate student/post-doc fellows/faculty/staff of Johns Hopkins Institutions (including Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins Health System, and other Johns Hopkins affiliations, as indicated in http://www.johnshopkins.edu). The candidate must enroll at least another academic/work year at Johns Hopkins Institutions until May 2012 and do not have any record suggesting failure or quit of school/job.

2. Cultural Background: the 2011 Hopkins CSSA President Candidate must have Chinese culture background, and fluently speak both in English and Chinese.

3. Prior experience: the 2011 Hopkins CSSA President Candidate must have enough prior experience to serve in student/public organization.

4. Leadership: the 2011 Hopkins CSSA President Candidate must be able to develop and lead the 2011-2012 Hopkins CSSA committees, and to host Hopkins CSSA service and events. The candidate must also take the responsibility to mentor other members for the continuity of Hopkins CSSA.

5. Great Passion: The 2011 Hopkins CSSA President Candidate must have passion to serve the Chinese students and scholars at Johns Hopkins University and work together with CSSAs from other local universities to serve the Chinese community in Greater Baltimore area.

II. The major responsibilities of Hopkins CSSA president include, but are not limited to:

1. Develop and lead the 2011-2012 Hopkins CSSA committees. Preside over all meetings of the Hopkins CSSA Committee;

2. Are able to commit enormous time in Chinese community affairs from June 2011 to May 2012;

3. Serve the best needs of Chinese community;

4. Represent or delegate representation of the Hopkins CSSA to the Schools, University, Chinese Embassy in USA, local, state, national, and international agencies and organizations;

5. Act on behalf of the Hopkins CSSA in any emergency occasions;

6. Take the responsibility to mentor other members for the continuity of Hopkins CSSA.

III. Election process and time schedule:

1. Election Board announces the start of nomination 05.12.2011.

2. Nomination: deadline 10:00pm, 05.20.2011

3. Election Board announces the nomination results: 05.20.2011 midnight. The start for candidates submit application materials (A brief introduction and CV, please see attached supplements for detail). The election campaign starts: President Candidates can start to communicate to the public, via various ways.

4. President Candidates submit applications: deadline 10:00pm, 05.27.2011

5. Election Board announces the submission of the materials, and publishes the materials to the public EMAIL-LIST 05.27.2011 midnight

6. Election Voting System open: 8:00am, 05.28. 2011 (Saturday morning)

7. Election Voting System close: 8:00pm 05.30.2011 (Monday evening). All the votes earlier than the voting system opening or later than the voting system closing will be taken as invalid.

8. Election Board announces the final result of voting to the public 05.30.2011 midnight

Supplements:

A. Nomination Process:

1. The potential Hopkins CSSA president should be nominated by Chinese at Hopkins Institutions (including Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins Health System and other Johns Hopkins affiliations as indicated at http://www.johnshopkins.edu/) , who should be officially and primarily affiliated with those organization within Hopkins.

2. You can nominate others or yourself for the position.

3. If you are nominated by others, we will send you a letter to confirm the nomination. It is your responsibility to indicate your acceptance of the nomination within 48 hours to be formally qualified as the candidate.

4. Once nominated and qualified, please prepare application materials (as indicated in the next section.) and submit before the deadline.

5. Please send your nomination email titled with “2011 Hopkins CSSA president nomination” to the Hopkins CSSA Election Board at cssa.johnshopkins@gmail.com. The nomination email should follow the format as:

–Your name

–Your department

–Your official email address

–The name of your nominee

–The department of your nominee

–The nominee’s official email address

6. Please note that each of you can only nominate one candidate.

7. Nomination deadline is 10:00pm, 05.20.2011. All the nominations after the deadline will be taken as invalid.

B. Application Materials:

1. Each president candidate need prepare a brief introduction and CV, which can introduce yourself and your plan for serving the Hopkins Chinese community on 2011-2012.

2. The candidate need submit the materials by sending email titled with “2011 Hopkins CSSA President Application” to cssa.johnshopkins@gmail.com

3. The submission must be done before the deadline 10:00pm, 05.27.2011. Submissions after the deadline will be taken as invalid.

4. After the submission, the candidates can start to communicate with the public, via various ways. The candidates can choose the campaign format and organize the campaign freely.

C. The Election Voting System:

1. The voting system will open from 8:00am 05.28.2011 Saturday morning and close Election Voting System close: 8:00pm 05.30.2011 Monday evening.

2. Please vote on time by sending email title with “Vote for *** (candidate’s name)” to cssa.johnshopkins@gmail.com. The voting email should follow the format as:

–Your name.

–Your department.

–The name of the candidate whom you want to vote for.

3. All three items of information should be included in the email. If any item is missing, your vote will be taken as invalid.

4. Please use your Hopkins official email to send your vote.

D. The main roles and responsibilities of the Election Board

1. To send out announcements to public during the election process

2. To maintain the election rules, keep it from being violated.

3. To monitor and help to host a fair and successful Hopkins CSSA 2011 Presidential Election

4. To count votes and announce the final election result.
